Contact Lens Services At Boland Eye Center

Your contact lens fitting will be completed by Josh Holmes, OD. Our contact lens staff has over thirty-five years of combined experience in the field. Dr. Holmes has undergone specialized training in order to fit lenses for medical conditions such as keratoconus as well as experience in fitting more common vision problems such as presbyopia and astigmatism.

Boland Eye Center strives to provide our patients with many options for contact lenses to not only meet your expectations, but surpass them. We fit patients in all the latest lens materials and wear modalities, from daily disposables to monthly or annual replacement. Tremendous advances have been made in the availability of healthier contact lens materials, which allow more oxygen to pass through the lens as well as enhancing the end of the day comfort. Dr. Holmes of Boland Eye Center fits well known brands, including but not limited to, Acuvue, Ciba, Coopervision, and Bausch and Lomb. We have the expertise to fit you with lenses to improve your quality of vision, change your appearance, rid you of those pesky readers, or manage your medical condition. Common terms in contact lens fitting:

Daily disposable: a contact lens designed to be replaced daily (an excellent choice for allergy sufferers or part-time wearers)

Two-week or monthly replacement: a contact lens designed to be replaced either monthly or every two weeks (the most commonly prescribed modalities)

Toric lens: a contact lens designed to correct astigmatism

Multifocal lens: a contact lens designed to correct a patients distance vision as well as their reading vision (generally for patients above forty or needing readers)

Monovision: a type of contact lens fitting in which one eye is corrected for distance vision and the other eye is corrected for reading (again, generally for patients above forty)

Gas permeable lens: a type of contact lens made of a rigid material that is preferred for some corneal conditions
